Our Integrative Program
HOW RELIGION AND SPIRITUALITY IMPACT YOUR EDUCATION IN MEANINGFUL WAYS THROUGH REGENT UNIVERSITY'S PSYD PROGRAM
Regent University is one of several programs providing an opportunity to meaningfully integrate clinical psychology with a Christian worldview. We believe there are several benefits of an integrative program, such as ours:
-
A learning environment true to both the scientific and professional discipline of clinical psychology and Regent's distinctive Christian identity.
-
A training experience that considers your worldview, personal beliefs, and how these will interface with your professional practice.
-
An understanding of religion and spirituality as foundational aspects of diversity and culture.
Integrative Classwork and Clinical Training
PsyD students engage in five core integrative courses focused on addressing religion and spirituality in treatment as well as engaging in psychology from a Christian worldview. Integrative themes are also infused across all coursework through devotions, prayer, readings, and discussion. As part of our rigorous practica sequence, students are evaluated in their ability to provide religiously and spiritually accommodative treatments, and to consider religion and spirituality as foundational diversity variables.
Interconnected
Here at Regent, we view religion and spirituality as indivisible from your practice as a future psychologist. Our students explore what it means to be made in the Imago Dei (Image of God), struggle with the meaning of pain in our world, and are challenged to grow as spiritual beings as well as future psychologists. Whatever your reasons for seeking an integrative program, you will find Christian themes infused into every aspect of your experience in the PsyD program.
