The Abundant Life Team

The Abundant Life Flourishing Program prioritizes psychological research that investigates Christian human flourishing. We develop research reports that summarize empirical findings from psychology and related social sciences, as well as insights from theological traditions on pathways to Christian flourishing. These pathways include family, work, education, and religious community. In addition, we are committed to enhancing empirical measures of constructs such as forgiveness, happiness, human flourishing, and love from a psychological standpoint. We employ insights from analytic philosophy and theological traditions to inform these measures, contributing to the field of empirical social science research. Our Abundant Life Flourishing framework encapsulates spiritual richness that transcends mere material abundance and integrates six domains of Christian flourishing: peace and joy, mental and physical health, purpose and meaning, character and virtue, relationships, and stewardship.

Within this team, we meet bi-weekly for two purposes: webinars and research. During one of our bi-weekly meetings, we listen to experts speak about their research within the field of human flourishing to understand the field's current placement, & network, and learn about how we can apply our research. During the other bi-weekly meeting (research seminar), we discuss the team's current research projects, how each student can contribute, the project trajectories, and the process of developing and refining papers for publication. We also discuss preparation for events such as our annual summer school.

Any current or prospective student is able to attend our monthly webinars (announced via email, website, and social media). However, only members are able to attend our research seminar. Students are able to become members in the beginning of each academic year (fall semester).
